ManageEngine has launched an update to its IT360 management solution, bringing a new “unified dashboard” that can provide real time metrics on IT infrastructure and new hooks to manage “heterogenous” SAN and NAS storage arrays. The focus on storage is flanked by an update to its password management software and an update to DeviceExpert which, can now automate policy configuration across corporate networks.
All moves are salient moves which reflect the growing trends in the IT channel. But the prominent focus on storage is due in part to ManageEngine’s own customer demands. Storage is the universal constant for all businesses and as different storage environments are deployed for specific on-premise solutions, gaining visibility into those operations is a useful way for service providers to better understand customer needs and right-size new solution offerings.
In addition to supporting SAN and WAN, IT360 will also support fabric switches, tape libraries and can gain visibility into storage hosting servers with respective bus adapter cards. ManageEngine is also providing a list of all supported storage devices here, so solution providers can consult and deploy with confidence. IT360 can also auto-discover storage solutions and tap into “vendor-specific” algorithms for more advanced information, including drive health and power faults. Linked with virtualization environments and cloud based apps, IT360 will now provide a fuller spectrum of monitoring. All existing customers can grab the IT360 updates and download them here.
ManageEngine’s announcements have been made at the Gartner Data Center Conference, currently taking place in Las Vegas from Dec 3-6. As cloud computing expands, data center management needs will grow alongside it, an inevitability of the demands placed upon modern-day infrastructure. Gartner’s conference will act as showcase for these capabilities and provide “a balanced perspective on the evolving technologies and changing business models,” set to shape the IT landscape into 2017.
ManageEngine’s efforts are focused around promoting the single-console “out of the box” IT management offering. This style of technology is creating a hotbed of competition as MSPs seek vendors with the most comprehensive, “holistic” and easy to use management solutions. Orchestrating any large-scale as-a-service operation will demand it, especially as pure-play cloud providers look to scale their business.
Earlier in November, ManageEngine delivered granular billing capabilities to its ServiceDesk Plus offering for MSPs, a fitting addition which now sets the stage for deeper data center management capabilities. Coupled with IT360′s new storage hooks, MSPs can now meter and monitor the resources that are driving their revenue and find new areas upon which to build additional revenue or value-added services.
Big picture? Amid the rising tide of hosted services in the channel, its clear ManageEngine is building a managed war chest for the cloud to come.
