Wireless specialist AirTight Networks Inc. has a fleet of wireless access points that include the AirTight WiFi management technology. These 802.11n solutions are enterprise-ready and designed for large-scale networks where management and connectivity are mission-critical.
AirTight WiFi comes equipped with a wireless intrusion prevention system, allowing a single access point to act autonomously without a network controller backbone. AirTight WiFi features analytics and business intelligence within the access point, allowing an organization — or a retailer offering free WiFi — to keep tabs on user activity and make smarter choices in expanding mobile connectivity.
AirTight Networks officials in Mountain View, Calif., say these access points are well equipped for the retail space, where customer analytics can be leveraged to “enhance loyalty programs” and stay within PCI compliance regulations. This allows for wireless point-of-sales systems and a worry-free implementation of guest WiFi on the same network. According to recent surveys, retailers with WiFi are often cited as preferred shopping locations and display a marked increase in customer service. Considering the ubiquity of mobile devices today, solution providers targeting the retail space may find it more lucrative than years past.
The latest platform to showcase AirTight’s WiFi platform is the C60, an “enterprise-grade” access point that offers “three spatial streams” of 802.11N, 8 different SSIDs, captive portal capabilities, built-in firewalls for network layers 3-7, traffic shaping and BYOD policy enforcement with device fingerprinting.
Sub-options for capabilities allow a user to apply different traffic rules based on SSIDs. Quality of service can be tracked and monitored, making these access points customizable and very solution-provider friendly.
The C60 is being offered today with CAPEX, OPEX, cloud or hybrid pricing options. AirTight says these products eliminate ”the security gaps inherent in all Wi-Fi access products at a close to 30 percent below that of” comparable enterprise solutions.
For providers that lead with AirTight, there’s another layer of customization: The wireless LAN console has a customizable HTML5 interface, which allows partners and admins to build out a management console that’s tuned to the needs of wireless environments.
AirTight’s partner program features a specialized VAR program and a solution-provider program, in addition to a technology alliance partner program, which includes strategic partnerships with big names like Hewlett-Packard Co. and Enterasys Networks Inc. Partners are being encouraged to sign up here.
Be sure to check out similar moves in the wireless space, like those from Cisco Systems Inc., which overhauled its unified wireless management suite, and ADTRAN’s cloud-enabled access points, which offer similar capabilities to those from AirTight.
