Cloud services firm dinCloud Inc. today tapped an IT industry veteran to lead its infrastructure engineering and technology development with the stated goal of creating “a heavenly experience” for partners.
The Los Angeles-based company, a spun-off subsidiary of IT solution provider En Pointe Technologies Inc., named Barry Weber as Chief Technology Officer, according to company officials. Weber brings thirty years of proven success as a leader in IT in the retail, financial services, professional services, and high tech.
“We are very excited to have attracted someone of Barry’s caliber for CTO,” said Kevin Schatzle, CEO of dinCloud in a statement. “Barry has the perfect combination of deep technology understanding and process driven operational experience necessary to implement and support our customers’ IT Infrastructure inside their virtual private data center.”
According to the company, Weber will head up all of dinCloud’s infrastructure engineering and technology development and serve as an integral part of the company’s strategic direction and future growth. Weber will also be tasked with translating dinCloud’s business strategy into “scalable and reliable service offerings that will ensure the company’s leadership in the competitive landscape.”
“The focus of dinCloud is clear – to provide a heavenly experience for its customers and partners. For me, this translates into driving dinCloud’s technology and service offerings to provide a full platform for customers at a price point that fits their budget,” said Weber. “While there is a lot of technology available for those that want to leverage cloud, before dinCloud, I hadn’t seen a full service offering that satisfied the needs of this market at the right price.
“I am excited about the opportunity to take what is real and available today at dinCloud and to join the team in extending it far beyond what is available in other [Infrastructure as a Service] clouds,” Weber added.
The executive move comes just a week after dinCloud inked a deal with IT services firm Insight Enterprises, Inc., to expand the InsightCloud Solutions Center, with new Cloud Business Provisioning, powered by dinCloud. The augmented Cloud Business Provisioning now includes hosted virtual desktops, hosted applications and servers, storage backup, and disaster recovery.
Weber previously served as president and CTO for T3 Dynamics LLC. Prior executive positions include vice president of information technology for bookseller Barnes and Noble’s e-commerce division, and CIO of Lieberman Research Worldwide. Weber was also director of U.S. strategic services for Mercury Interactive before it was acquired by Hewlett-Packard Co. in 2006.
