In advance of CES, Samsung pre-announces the release of three new high-res monitors for modern workspaces
At the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week, Samsung, a leading provider of PC displays, is releasing three new workplace and gaming monitors that boast streamlined designs and higher resolution.
The Lowdown: Samsung pioneered curved, super-wide, bezel-free monitors. Its new displays — the Samsung Space Monitor, the CRG9 49” Gaming Monitor, and the UR59C 32” Monitor — are designed to give creative and gaming users better displays with smaller desktop footprints.
The Details: The Samsung Space Monitor comes in two versions: a 27-inch model with QHD resolution and a 32-inch model with 4K UHD resolution.
The 32-inch UR59C, a curved unit that displays up to 1 billion colors and features 4K UHD resolution, is designed specifically for content creators that deal in graphical design, video, or other creative activities.
The 49-inch CRG9 is a high-resolution, super-wide monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio and an ultra-high refresh rate. The monitor, aimed at gamers, includes AMD Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR Technology to reduce stuttering and background clutter.
The Impact: While Samsung is targeting the devices at both consumer and commercial users, the vendor seems to have chosen direct and retail launch channels. The monitors are said to be available for pre-order though Amazon, Best Buy, and Samsung’s own online marketplace.
