New role puts her in charge of channels, alliances at the Cognito platform maker
The mini exodus continues in Irvine with another Cylance exec jumping ship to a competitor in the post-BlackBerry buyout era. This week, Vectra snapped up Cylance channel leader Didi Dayton to take on a similar role at the threat detection and response vendor.
The Lowdown: In her new role, Dayton will be responsible for worldwide channel programs, overseeing global delivery of product through Vectra’s three-year-old, three-tier channel program.
Vectra is best known for its flagship Cognito threat-detection and threat-hunting platform. The vendor claims to employ artificial intelligence to detect attacks in both cloud and data center environments.
The Details: Dayton has a lengthy track record in the channel. Prior to her three-plus years at Cylance, she’s had mostly brief channel leadership and sales stops at Symantec, Tanium, FireEye, IronKey, Arrow Electronics, and Websense between 2007 and 2015.
Background: Dayton’s move continues the trendlet of execs leaving Cylance in the run up to — and in the wake of — its acquisition by BlackBerry.
Last week, SentinelOne, a maker of endpoint protection, detection, and response solutions, lured Cylance global channels vice president Tim Mackie to its channel chief position. Mackie was hired by former Cylance global sales chief Nick Warner, who himself joined SentinelOne as Chief Revenue Officer in June 2017. Warner is now the vendor’s COO. The following month, Raj Rajamani, former Cylance head of products, joined SentinelOne as vice president of product management. Rajamani left SentinelOne last year to take a similar role at Cohesity.
Last July, Cylance CTO Rahul Kashyap left the endpoint security vendor to take the CEO job at Awake Security. Kashyap had replaced Cylance CTO Glenn Chisholm, who left the company in April 2017 to launch ID security specialist Obsidian Security.
Mobile device and platform vendor BlackBerry announced in November 2018 that it was buying Cylance for $1.4 billion.
The Buzz: “Didi brings a rare combination of talents and proven experience to Vectra channel operations,” said Kevin Moore, senior vice president of worldwide field operations at Vectra. “We are excited to have her onboard to drive a rich channel program that delivers predictable and consistent results as well as new offerings to our partners.”
“I am thrilled to join Vectra during this important stage in the company’s evolution,” said Dayton. “Vectra has significant momentum, and I look forward to working alongside Kevin Moore and the management team to accelerate channel and go-to-market strategy, as well as drive greater value for Vectra channel partners and their customers.”
