Fresh off its acquisition of Jive Communications, vendor looks to huddle all of its collaboration wares under one umbrella
LogMeIn this week announced a new brand name for its unified communications and collaboration portfolio, along with a pair of additions to the lineup for more cloud-based telephony and meeting room functionality. The vendor’s UCC brand, which had been lumped around point offerings like GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar, is now called simply GoTo.
The Lowdown: Coming less than a year after the $342 million acquisition of UC vendor Jive Communication, the rebrand and rollout shows that the remote IT monitoring and management specialist is serious about having a robust presence and a comprehensive set of offerings in the growing UCC market, which is expected to top $60 billion worldwide by 2025, according to Global Market Insights.
The Details: Topping the bill of new wares in GoTo is GoToConnect. The solution integrates the vendor’s flagship GoToMeeting with Jive UC features to serve up Web, audio and videoconferencing, presence, VoIP calling, SMS/text messaging, and visual voice mail in one application.
GoToConnect will be generally available in early April in North America and Latin America, with international availability expected later this year.
The company this week also announced GoToRoom, a revamped conference room solution designed to turn any huddle or midsize conference room into a full-fledged video-enabled collaborative meeting space. GoToRoom enables one-click meetings via integrations with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office 365, or Google Calendar.

“GoToConnect is an all-inclusive UCC offering for businesses looking for a great cloud PBX/phone system, plus rich videoconferencing and collaboration capabilities,” said Elka Popova, an analyst at Frost & Sullivan, which recently found that 68 percent of UCaaS buyers prefer all-inclusive bundles. “One of GoToConnect’s biggest benefits is its highly competitive price, which allows businesses to boost user productivity with a complete UCC system while keeping spending under control.”
