New study by master agent AVANT finds solution providers play big role in enterprise technology evaluation and adoption
Enterprises are increasingly turning to channel partners — including traditional telephony agents — for advice and guidance on the selection of disruptive and mission-critical technologies, finds a new study by master agent AVANT.
The Lowdown: The State of Disruption study conducted by the Chicago-based master agent finds that 74% of enterprise IT decision-makers rely upon solution providers in their decision-making on next-generation technologies, such as SD-WAN, smart networking, advanced cybersecurity, unified communications, and voice infrastructure.
The Details: The AVANT study — conducted in collaboration with 8×8, Flexential, HOSTING, Masergy, NICE inContact, and Oracle Communications — finds that SD-WAN is the most disruptive technology, as more enterprises are adopting the virtual networking technology and corresponding services. Additionally, the study finds high disruption by migration away from on-premises data centers to cloud services among $100 million-plus companies, a steady adoption of cloud-based unified communications platforms, and more outsourcing of security to service providers.
The Impact: The need for guidance from trusted advisors among enterprises is drawing more solution providers into advanced and disruptive technologies and services, a separate study by AVANT finds. In its 2019 Cloud Channel Survey, the master agent found that solution providers are increasing the number of cloud vendor offerings they sell or support, and increasing activity around data networks (25%), unified communications (67%), SD-WAN (61%), and Security-as-a-Service (45%).
The Buzz: “We see the pace of change in IT accelerating, with enterprises literally struggling to evolve or die. Trusted advisors are uniquely equipped to help them navigate the rapid rate of technological change,” said Drew Lydecker, president and co-founder of AVANT. “We’re pleased to release the State of Disruption report as a pulse for forward-thinking IT teams and the experts who enable their decision-making. From networking infrastructure to cybersecurity to breakthrough technologies like SD-WAN, we’re seeing disruption across the board as organizations in all industries are advancing digital transformation.”
