Expands visibility into enterprise cloud environments
The software intelligence company has extended its AI-powered platform to back-end technology layers such as mainframes. This includes IBM Z support for CICS, IMS, and middleware.
The Lowdown: The expansion of the platform offers customers precise info about the performance of digital services across hybrid cloud environments, from modern cloud apps to the mainframe.
The Details: According to today’s announcement, the Dynatrace platform supports a range of integration and middleware technologies, including IBM DataPower, Integration Bus, and MQ; MuleSoft; and Tibco BusinessWorks.
According to the Dynatrace announcement, mainframes – used by more than 70 percent of Fortune 500 companies and powering 30 billion transactions each day – can create blind spots in system monitoring, making it difficult to identify, analyze, and resolve performance problems.
Dynatrace provides end-to-end visibility via automatic discovery and mapping of all transactions with a single AI-powered solution. Other solutions attempt to connect disparate tools to “stitch together” a business transaction, Dynatrace sources said.
Background: Dynatrace works with solution providers, consultancies, and technology partners to deliver full-stack monitoring of application performance, cloud infrastructure, and AI operations, as well as digital experience management.
The Buzz: “While enterprises are moving applications to modern cloud stacks for agility and competitive advantage, these applications often still depend on critical transactions and ‘crown jewels’ customer data residing on IBM Z mainframes. This puts pressure on these resources to perform tasks that were not envisioned when the mainframes were launched,” said Steve Tack, senior vice president of products at Dynatrace. “Because Dynatrace provides end-to-end hybrid visibility, customers can optimize new services, catch performance degradations before user impact, and understand exactly who has been impacted by an incident. This enables customers to confidently innovate applications that leverage data from mainframes to increase revenue, build brand loyalty, and create competitive advantage.”
