MDR firm launches referral program for MSPs looking to beef up infosec practices
Managed detection and response (MDR) service provider Pondurance this week launched a limited partner program specifically aimed at MSPs seeking to augment their offerings with managed security services.
The Lowdown: The referral partner program gives MSPs financial incentive to add Pondurance’s threat hunting, detection, and remediation services. Partners can extend their offerings further with Pondurance’s security consulting services, which also address regulatory compliance and business continuity.
The Details: Pondurance’s MDR and consulting services include:
• Threat Hunting and Response: Provides technology and response personnel to defend systems and protect information assets
• Compliance: Maintains, establishes, and creates security policies and programs that align with compliance requirements
• Security Assessments: Delivers vulnerability and penetration testing and auditing to help organizations improve security posture
• Business Continuity: Reviews threats, risks, and business impacts to develop and maintain BCDR policies and protocols
• Partner Resource Portal: Offers access to marketing collateral, pricing tools, secure communication, training, and other key enablement resources
The Impact: Pondurance’s initial goal is to recruit 10 U.S.-based MSP referral partners covering the main geographic regions, company officials said. Current partner firms include Advanticom, Virtusa, and KSM Consulting.
Partners are selected based on criteria such as annual revenue, client type and size, and workplace culture, officials added.
The Buzz: “Cybersecurity is an attractive market for managed IT service providers, but building out a security services offering can be time-consuming and costly,” said Mike Childs, sales operations manager at Pondurance in Indianapolis. “They also find that securing the resources and expertise to evaluate and investigate the thousands of security alerts generated by security tools is a huge challenge because of the growing cybersecurity talent shortage. Our partner program enables MSPs to quickly and easily deliver cybersecurity protection for their customers.”
“To be successful in the managed IT services industry, you must be able to offer comprehensive and capable security services,” said Brian Conboy, president of Advanticom, a charter member of Pondurance’s referral partner program. “As MSPs, we want to believe we can do it all, but that is far from the truth regarding security. It takes years to develop the capacity to even evaluate security expertise, and then more time and resources to operationalize that expertise.
“Running a mature operation means knowing what you can do and what you should partner for. We investigated internal development, and identified that the risks were too great, the impacts too big, and the costs too high to do it right,” Conboy added. “During our three years of collaboration with Pondurance, we were able to scale our business with minimal risk, get more clients, increase our profits, and learn so much along the way. We are certain they are the partner we want to work with for years to come. Pondurance is the full package of security, mature operations, and mutual benefit in a box, and is dedicated to providing around-the-clock cybersecurity services to keep businesses running smoothly and safely.”
