CASB vendor hires VPs to head channel and technology partner programs
To further leverage its success with partners, Campbell, California-based Bitglass has hired Jon Peppler as vice president of worldwide channels. Benjamin Rice, formerly of Blue Coat Systems, will be vice president of worldwide business development.
The Lowdown: Peppler, who joins Bitglass with more than 20 years of channel experience, was previously at Menlo Security and has held positions at OpenText and Proofpoint. Rice, meanwhile, has held senior management titles at a variety of companies – both stalwarts such as Blue Coat and start-ups such as Egnyte and Ositis Software.
The Details: Company officials say the channel has become a key component of Bitglass’ success, and that the provider of cloud access security broker technology has almost 200 channel partners throughout the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. Through its latest hires, in conjunction with a recent round of Series D funding, Bitglass aims to further deepen its channel presence and drive innovation in the CASB market.
The company’s hybrid CASB solution uses an agentless architecture that officials say delivers real-time, end-to-end security for any application or device, leveraging API integrations and proxies to secure data at rest and in transit. Bitglass plans to expand its integrations with a broader set of technology partners under Rice’s leadership.
The Buzz: “I’m very excited to welcome Jon and Benjamin to the Bitglass team. As traditional security vendors struggle to adapt to the cloud-first world, there is a massive opportunity for the channel to partner with Bitglass and help their customers to securely transform their businesses,” said Dean Hickman-Smith, Bitglass senior vice president of worldwide field operations. “Bitglass operates within a rich business ecosystem that is filled with technology partnerships that bolster our cloud security product and our execution as a company. Jon and Benjamin will expand Bitglass’ go-to-market operations and continue our 3X annual growth rate over the coming years.”
“I’m thrilled to be joining Bitglass during this period of rapid growth and accelerating cloud adoption around the world,” said Peppler. “As Bitglass continues to expand its operations globally, it represents the next wave of opportunity for the channel to engage in margin-rich, annually recurring business.”
“Right now is a great time to join the team at Bitglass,” said Rice. “The demand for cloud security has never been greater, and the need for cooperation among cloud service providers and security companies has become critically important. Driving this cooperation through strategic partnerships will increase the value that Bitglass provides to its customers and all of its partners.”
