Tech e-commerce reseller looks to support more suppliers, resellers with marketplace capabilities
Online technology marketplace reseller Newegg is expanding its global reach by adding 29 additional countries to its service roster. The company is also looking to attract more suppliers and resellers to utilize its marketplace capabilities.
The Lowdown: Newegg now sells and fulfills technology product sales on every continent (except Antarctica, of course), supporting customers in more than 80 countries. The new countries added to the online marketplace’s roster are Algeria, Argentina, Bahrain, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lithuania, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Paraguay, Peru, Qatar, Romania, Serbia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tanzania, Uganda, Uruguay, Russia, and Vietnam.
The Details: For the past two years, Newegg has aggressively pursued a global expansion strategy in which it built capabilities to sell technology products and services in countries around the world with local language support, free shipping on many items, and processing of returns on behalf of manufacturers and resellers.
As part of its global expansion, Newegg is looking to attract more manufacturers, suppliers, and resellers to utilize its online marketplace capabilities to sell to more customers that operate in multiple countries. Cross-country, cross-border technology sales are one of the thorniest problems facing technology vendors, as providing consistent quality, price, and delivery is often challenging due to import/export regulations, tax codes, and currency rates.
Background: Online marketplaces are fast becoming a significant route to market for technology vendors as customers want and expect buying experiences similar to what they get in their consumer lives. According to research by The 2112 Group (the publisher of Channelnomics), 11% of channel chiefs expect marketplaces to displace traditional resellers as their top sources of indirect revenue by 2024.
The Buzz: “Adding these 29 countries to Newegg’s global network is a testament to our team’s tireless dedication to bring the Newegg shopping experience to customers across the globe,” said Newegg’s Chief Marketplace Officer Sophia Tsao.
