Hires software veteran to focus on exceptional customer outcomes
The provider of customer experience management solutions has recruited Chris Pennington as Chief Customer Officer. In that position, he’ll be responsible for global professional services and support.
The Lowdown: Pennington joins Cupertino, California-based SugarCRM with a wealth of knowledge about both subscription-based and on-premises software.
The Details: For the 12 years prior to SugarCRM, he was at Professional Advantage PTY Ltd., a global ISV and reseller of IT business systems. There, he oversaw revenue of $50 million-plus as U.S. vice president and general manager of Australia.
Before Professional Advantage, Pennington held executive senior-level roles at Cedar Enterprise Solutions, Epicor Australia, Intelligent Building Solutions, and Interleaf. He holds an honorary bachelor’s degree from De Montfort University in the United Kingdom and received PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the Sydney chapter of the Project Management Institute.
In his new role, Pennington will report to SugarCRM CEO Craig Charlton.
The Buzz: “Chris is a big believer in listening to what clients have to say,” said Charlton. “He has an intense desire to ensure that we’re regarded as the easiest company in the industry to work, with and his primary objective in this role is to deliver world-class customer outcomes by leading and building enhanced delivery capabilities and success for our valued customers.
“We believe strongly that the next wave of innovation in B2B is sharply focused on the customer experience,” added Charlton. “With a wealth of experience and strong track record of understanding what customers want from their CX partner, Chris will be a valuable ally as we continue to go to market with game-changing solutions.”
“I’m very excited to join an organization that is dynamic and poised for growth,” said Pennington. “In my view, a great customer experience should be akin to a great business. I’m looking forward to building long, loyal relationships, retaining clients, and helping them transition through change.
