Data protection vendor also promotes Webroot sales exec to lead all channel sales
Carbonite on Monday announced the appointment of former Citrix channel executive Craig Stilwell (pictured) to the newly created role of Chief Revenue Officer. Stilwell will lead Carbonite’s global sales and marketing organization and report directly to president and CEO, Mohamad Ali.
The Lowdown: The company also promoted former Webroot sales VP Charlie Tomeo to vice president of channel sales for the entire Carbonite portfolio. At Webroot, which was purchased by Carbonite in February for $618 million, Tomeo was instrumental in building out the vendor’s network of MSPs and VARs. He will report to Stilwell.
The Details: Stilwell has nearly two decades of experience at Citrix, having served in senior leadership positions in direct and channel sales, marketing, operations, and professional services. Most recently, he served as Citrix’s senior vice president of partner sales.
The Buzz: “Craig has a proven ability to develop and lead high-performing, results-driven organizations,” Ali said of Stilwell. “His addition to our team, and the creation of the chief revenue officer position at Carbonite, reflects our focus on accelerating our growth strategy following the acquisition of Webroot.
“The channel is a critical area for investment at Carbonite, and with a unified global sales and marketing organization, we are even better positioned to drive further expansion and deliver increased value to our growing partner and MSP community,” Ali added.
“Carbonite has leading solutions that target two of the most pressing spending IT priorities — data backup and recovery, and endpoint protection,” said Stilwell. “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the team, and I am confident that with the strength of our solutions and our renewed commitment to the channel, we can capture meaningful share of this growing market.”
