Deal with Westcon-Comstor unit focuses on security offerings, partner recruitment
BlackBerry this week announced a distribution deal with Synnex’s networking- and security-focused Westcon-Comstor division to bring the Canadian vendor’s enterprise security offerings to market in the United States.
The Lowdown: As part of the agreement, Synnex will work to drive partner recruitment for BlackBerry’s Enterprise Partner Program and the distributor will assume responsibility for training, enablement, and management of select reseller partners in both commercial and enterprise markets.
The Details: Synnex currently distributes BlackBerry’s Enterprise Mobility Suite, a software suite for managing IoT environments. The expanded relationship announced Monday builds upon existing collaboration between Westcon-Comstor and BlackBerry in Latin America and Asia Pacific, officials said.
The Buzz: “Trusted and respected security-centric partners are extremely important as organizations recognize benefits of secure IoT initiatives,” said Richard McLeod, global vice president of Blackberry’s Enterprise Software Channels unit. “Synnex has a very strong reputation, reach, and partner network in the commercial and enterprise markets, and we look forward to leveraging the combined power of the BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite and BlackBerry Cylance’s machine learning– and artificial intelligence-based threat detection services with Synnex to attain new levels of mutual growth and customer/partner value-add in the years ahead.”
“We are pleased to help BlackBerry expand its commercial and enterprise businesses in the U.S. through this strategic new agreement,” said Reyna Thompson, senior vice president of North America product management at Synnex. “Due to our commitment to partner enablement through comprehensive services and support offerings, as well as our expertise in security and IoT, we are well-positioned to help customers effectively manage and grow their business with BlackBerry.”
