Company hopes to expand reach, develop new use cases for its ID verification offering
Onfido, an ID services vendor that helps businesses verify customer identities, this week launched a new partner program it hopes will expand the company’s global footprint and lead to the development of more comprehensive digital identity management solutions.
The Lowdown: The new program segregates partners into four categories: technology resellers, commercial resellers, systems integrators, and referral partners. Partners in each segment can offer Onfido services directly to customers either by embedding Onfido into their own cloud and SaaS offerings or by co-selling it as part of a combined solution stack.
The Details: New Onfido partners will gain access to the tools, technical guidance, and support required to integrate Onfido’s ID verification service into their existing fraud prevention, UX, and compliance tool kits, officials said. Security and Identity Access Management (IAM) firms already on the Onfido partner rolls include ForgeRock, IDEMIA, and Iovation. Visa and Salesforce also offer Onfido solutions in their online marketplaces.
Background: Onfido is a bit like a virtual nightclub bouncer, checking government-issued IDs at the door. Onfido’s technology uses artificial intelligence to scan both the physical ID and the user’s face (via selfie) to determine the validity of the identity claim. The solution is used mostly by born-in-the-cloud retailers like Zipcar and Bitstamp looking to onboard customers remotely and securely.
The Buzz: “Empowering the channel is an important strategic move that will enable us to accelerate our expansion into the United States, Southeast Asia, and Europe while exploring new product innovation in areas such as account takeover and authentication,” said Ed Ackerman, director of alliances and partnerships at Onfido. “With some of the biggest enterprise names already signed up to our program, we’re now selecting additional applications from companies to join and share in exciting new revenue-generating opportunities.”
“We are thrilled to join forces with Onfido in order to meet the requirements and needs of our financial institution customers in remote ID proofing,” said Pierre Barrial, CEO of Secure Enterprise Transactions at IDEMIA. “Onfido is a perfect complement to the IDEMIA suite of solutions available to the financial market globally. It contributes to strengthening our position as the partner of choice of financial institutions for building security and trust in their digital transformation.”
“Regardless of industry, our customers recognize that the start of a secure and optimized customer journey begins with a strong validated identity,” said Ben Goodman, senior vice president of global business and corporate development at ForgeRock. “Onfido’s speed of innovation and excellent track record in offering enterprises a robust identity verification and proofing solution made them a natural partner for us. We’re excited to be working together.”
“Our partnership with Onfido enables our customers to securely run their global digital businesses,” said Ed Wu, vice president of global partnerships at Iovation, a TransUnion company. “Together, we deliver four core benefits to our clients: expanding the reach of our joint offerings, minimizing friction, identifying fraud, and upholding privacy. Onfido and Iovation’s commitment to our clients is second to none, and we look forward to an exciting future together.”
