Distributor’s event will focus on channel-ready Internet of Things solutions that partners can tap today
Ingram Micro is extending its bid to bring Internet of Things technologies and systems to the channel with the launch of its first IoT Summit in September. The event, slated for Sept. 4-5 in Irvine, Calif., will focus on the systems that partners can deliver today to participate in the burgeoning IoT marketplace.
The Lowdown: The Ingram IoT Summit is the first multivendor channel event devoted exclusively to IoT technologies and partner opportunities. The event features more than 30 IoT vendors and specialists, as well as industry experts, that will provide attendees with insights and guidance on tapping into the multi-trillion-dollar market opportunity.
The Details: The Ingram IoT Summit is supported by leading IoT vendors, including Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, Fortinet, Lenovo, Advantech, Juniper Networks, Verizon, Zebra, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Sierra Wireless, Tibco, APC, Panasonic, and more. Topics on the agenda range from how solution providers can build vertical-specific IoT systems, the availability of pre-packaged solutions for starting IoT packages, how to drive intelligence transformation through edge networking, and delivering better customer experiences through value-added services.
The Impact: The Ingram IoT Summit is the first of many such events coming to the channel as the IoT market opportunity continues to unfold. In 2019, businesses will spend more than $745 billion on IoT products, legacy integration services, and technical support. By 2025, between 75 billion and 125 billion IoT devices will be in service, representing a market opportunity in the trillions of dollars. Ingram is among the vendors and distributors trying to jump-start IoT in the channel; the summit is an extension of that effort.
Background: In March, Ingram Micro launched its IoT Marketplace, an online resource through which solution providers can access information about IoT technologies and vendors, explore pre-built IoT solutions, and develop skills training that supports IoT business practices.
The Buzz: “There’s no denying IoT is a hot technology category with tremendous growth opportunities for channel partners,” said Mike Zilis, executive vice president and group president at Ingram Micro. “By taking on the heavy lifting – especially when it comes to vetting technologies and solution sets, and offering channel partners the business-building resources needed to establish and grow a successful IoT practice, Ingram Micro is serving as an indispensable business partner who is dedicated to helping channel partners do more with more.”
“Education and training, combined with repeatable solutions through Ingram’s solution aggregation model, are critical to accelerating adoption around IoT,” said Nicole Denil, general manager of Global Channel Sales for Internet of Things at Microsoft.
“We want our channel partners to walk away from the IoT Summit inspired and enabled to establish and grow a successful IoT practice,” said event co-host Eric Hembree, director of IoT at U.S. Ingram Micro. “IoT is one of the channel’s must-have technology practices, and a growing opportunity for the entire channel ecosystem.”
“The growth around IoT is as large as you make it, and with the help of Ingram Micro, we’re expanding our services and enabling our customers, as well as our associates, to benefit from the everyday business value IoT delivers,” said Mark Essayian, president of KME Systems and a member of the Ingram Micro Trust X Alliance Advisory Council. “We’re excited to see what Ingram Micro has planned for the IoT Summit, and look forward to discussing the positive and ongoing impact digital transformation is having on our company, the industry, and our clients.”
