Offerings will be built on Palo Alto Networks technologies
Arrow Electronics is teaming up with cybersecurity solutions vendor ON2IT to offer cloud-based security operations center (SOC) services leveraging technology from Palo Alto Networks.
The Lowdown: The SOC-as-a-Service offering will include Palo Alto technologies such as next-generation firewalls, the Cortex XDR detection-and-response application, and Traps.
The Details: The combination of managed next-gen firewalls and managed Traps is aimed at enabling enterprises to enhance their security operations without having to spend the time and money to integrate, deploy, and manage their security environments. It also delivers experienced SOC analysts and best-of-breed technologies.
The Impact: There’s an ongoing debate whether SOC-as-a-Service is a real thing or simply a part of the larger managed security service provider (MSSP) space. The combination of increasingly sophisticated threats, complex security solutions, and a shortage of cybersecurity talent is helping to drive some enterprises to MSSPs.
Background: Analysts with the Enterprise Strategy Group said in a report earlier this year that 53% of IT professionals surveyed said they were most concerned with the skills gaps in cybersecurity.
The Buzz: “Teaming with ON2IT gives customers the ability to provide advanced security operations without the massive investment and training of an ‘in-house’ security operations center,” said Jesper Trolle, president of Arrow’s enterprise computing solutions business in North America. “Our channel partners can now help provide their customers a better overall security posture, reducing risk, monitoring for threats, and having the knowledge that they have expert resources to assist them. Security has become a key part of any business strategy, and ON2IT and Arrow are making it simpler for businesses to improve their security and reduce their risk.”
“Managed security service adoption is a growing trend, and our products are quickly becoming the platform of choice for service providers, including Cortex XDR for detection and response,” said Shailesh Rao, senior vice president of Cortex by Palo Alto. “Our customers can focus investment on strategic business initiatives and achieve a mature security posture whether they have an in-house security team using our products or an outsourced provider managing them.”
“ON2IT has over 14 years of delivering managed security services, and our North American go-to-market approach is uniquely developed to enable the Arrow and the Palo Alto Networks channel to execute on delivery of these important client services,” said Ron Myers, Chief Revenue Officer at ON2IT and former senior vice president of global channels for Palo Alto.
