Certification gives users full lifecycle visibility for managed assets
Ingram Micro this week announced the integration of its ITAD application with ServiceNow, giving users of the latter’s asset management system consolidated visibility into end-of-life equipment status.
The Lowdown: The move brings capabilities of Ingram Micro’s asset tracking application, BlueIQ, to the ServiceNow IT management platform to give users the ability to monitor asset detail, location, status, and final disposition throughout the product lifecycle.
The Details: Pairing the distributor’s ITAD tracking capabilities with the popular IT asset management platform aims to eliminate the unwieldy – and unfortunately common – practice of using separate tools to access end-of-service information and manually downloading and uploading information between siloed management systems.
Specific benefits of the new integration include:
>Increased accuracy and security – Merging the ITAD process with ITSM eliminates human error and enhances chain-of-custody to reduce zombie and ghost assets.
>Compliance visibility – Connected systems track assets from procurement through final disposition, including end-of-service data erasure and certificate of destruction reports.
>Improved user experience – Pairing ITAD and ITSM reduces training and onboarding time and offers the ability to schedule ITAD pickups directly from the ServiceNow Asset Management platform.
The newly certified and integrated Ingram Micro application is available now in the ServiceNow Store.
The Buzz: “Ingram Micro ITAD continues our drive to integrate our industry-leading IT asset end-of-service tracking and reporting tools with major ITSM platforms,” said Ingram’s Todd Zegers, vice president of ITAD, commerce, and lifecycle services. “While we continue to deliver detailed insight into scheduling, data sanitization, processing, remarketing, and recycling results through our client portal, the ServiceNow integration means our mutual clients can manage, track, and view the full asset lifecycle from a single UI.”
“The new Ingram Micro ITAD integration makes it possible for ServiceNow clients to simplify asset hand-off at end-of-service, enhance visibility, and access disposition information for compliance and audit reporting,” added Avanish Sahai, global vice president for ISV and technology alliances at ServiceNow. “Combining IT service management with IT asset disposition is a natural extension for ServiceNow clients, so we’re excited to make it available to our existing customers via the Store.”
