Looks to become technology marketplace for the channel
AppSmart, just days after completing the integration of telecommunications master agent WTG, is bringing another master agent, Telegration, into the fold.
The Lowdown: The acquisition of Michigan-based Telegration will bring with it a range of technologies and services from 150 technology providers in such areas as cloud, connectivity, communications, the Internet of Things (IoT), and managed IT services.
The Details: Telegration now becomes an AppSmart company and, along with WTG (World Telecom Group), gives AppSmart a combination of expertise from top channel players to help customers with their digital transformation efforts, technology offerings for master agents, and a broad array of solutions for businesses.
Telegration also is a member of The Alliance Partners, a consortium of IT, telecom, and cloud technology distributors in the United States that servers channel partners. Telegration has more than three-dozen solutions in the voice (VoIP, SIP trunking, and hosted PBX), connectivity (cable, Ethernet, and SD-WAN), cloud (planning, migration, and UCaaS), managed security (cybersecurity services, managed firewalls, and managed endpoint security), and managed service (telecom expense and wireless management) markets.
The Impact: AppSmart, with WTG and Telegration, wants to be not only a top master agent for the channel but also an online technology marketplace for partners, offering a wide range of products and solutions in such industries as telecom, retail, health care, financial services, and energy. The company calls itself a one-stop shop for B2B services that offers a catalog of applications and services from the likes of Microsoft, AT&T, Version, CenturyLink, and Google.
Background: AppDirect created the AppSmart business unit late last year when it bought both WTG and NeoCloud, a cloud service provider based in North Carolina. The goal was to bring together both master agents and technology providers to bring more resources into the channel.
The Buzz: “Similar to how Amazon is the everything store for consumers, AppSmart is designed to be the digital services store for businesses – from cloud to wireless to energy,” said Telegration founder and CEO Denis Raue, who will be vice president of corporate development at AppSmart. “We look forward to being part of the AppSmart family, working to create scale in distribution and delivering outstanding agent support tools.”
“During our 29-year history, we have worked to enhance the distribution capabilities of solution providers while empowering sales success of channel partners,” said Telegration President Tim Basa, who will join AppSmart as vice president of sales. “Our vision and culture align perfectly. This is a great marriage of the AppSmart technology with our integration.”
