Start-up’s new program lets resellers put its products into their lineups
Startup BigID is courting resellers with a new VAR program aimed at encouraging partners to add its data discovery and privacy products to their portfolios.
The Lowdown: Through the BidID Momentum VAR Program, resellers will be able to expand their revenue opportunities as their customers deal with the growing number of privacy regulations around the world, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), according to BigID officials.
The vendor also is hoping the program will accelerate sales and expand its presence in such regions as Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific.
The Details: BigID’s solutions leverage machine learning techniques to help businesses discover the personal information of customers, partners, and employees in all the structured and unstructured data on the network and then protect, tag, and manage that data, all on a petabyte scale.
Through the VAR program, BigID will offer a full enablement kit and a dedicated portal. Resellers get access to a deal registration program, training, sales management tools, and a joint marketing program that includes Webinars, events, collateral, and related activities. Partners can expand their capabilities in such areas as privacy, security enforcements, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC).
BigID’s products also offer VARs integration with existing third-party security enforcement and data governance solutions, creating other revenue opportunities for resellers. The vendor’s platform includes an app store for data privacy, security, and governance offerings.
The Impact: As more data is collected by companies – including personal data on customers and employees – governments around the world are putting more pressure on them to protect that data from increasingly sophisticated cyberthreats. Such regulations as GDPR and CCPA are not only putting tough rules in place to ensure privacy is protected but also backing them up with potentially high financial penalties for violations. It’s an area of the booming security field that offers new opportunities for VARs with the right tools and solutions to offer.
The worldwide data protection market will grow 15.55% a year, from $62.82 billion last year to $198.95 billion by 2026, according to Verified Market Research.
Background: BigID, based in both Tel Aviv and New York, has raised $9 million in funding since it launched in 2016, with the money coming from such companies as SAP. io Fund, Comcast Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Salesforce Ventures. Earlier in September, the vendor announced $50 million in financing.
The Buzz: “BigID’s devoted reseller ecosystem has been a major driver in the growth of our business over the past year. The addition of our new Momentum Value Added Reseller Program and portal will further enhance our ability to serve a broad range of enterprises worldwide,” said Louise Cooke, vice president of VAR channels at BigID. “We’re excited to build upon our success and work with our VARs to deliver a world-class, integrated privacy solution to customers at a time when consumer data privacy is at a premium.”
“Identity-related data under management by organizations has exploded from megabyte to petabyte scale,” said Jan Zeilinga, CEO of NextID. “We chose to partner with BigID to help extend NextID’s identity and access management solutions to enable the consensual and compliant use of large scale, distributed consumer data. From a business standpoint, the market opportunity with BigID has all the hallmarks of the time we included SailPoint in our portfolio — a breakthrough solution which became the growth engine for our previous venture.”
