New offering is fruit of April’s Passportal acquisition
Five months after buying password management vendor Passportal, SolarWinds is rolling out a program to help MSPs leverage the SolarWinds Passportal Site to offer private and branded password management as-a-service to their customers.
The Lowdown: Through the Passportal Site, partners can access market development funds to create new services, which, in turn, will help them build new ways to drive recurring revenue by automating the management of their customers’ passwords and credentials.
The Details: Through the new Passportal promotion, MSPs will be able to automate and centralize password and credential management for customers and create a solution that can be co-managed with customers. MSPs will be able to:
> Organize and categorize passwords in folders
> Manage employees’ data access rights
> Get notified when employees depart, receive all passwords known by a departing employee, and cut the person’s access
> Generate strong and unique passwords
> Log in to saved Websites with a single click
> Run internal audits and reports
The Impact: Increasingly complex risk management, compliance, and regulatory environments are driving a global password management market that’s expected to grow more than 19% a year, reaching $2.05 billion by 2025, according to Grand View Research analysts. Such complexity also is driving many organizations to find partners that can take the challenge of managing passwords and credentials off their hands.
Background: In buying Passportal, SolarWinds was able to make deeper inroads into the midmarket and SMB managed service space and into the installed bases of competitors, given the large number of MSPs that had used Passportal.
