Steve Pataky will build out cybersecurity firm’s partner program
Steve Pataky, a tech industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience in security, networks, and the channel, will now lead start-up Ubiq Security’s new partner program.
The Lowdown: Ubiq, whose eponymous software platform is designed to secure the data on any device regardless of its location, announced the partner program and Pataky’s appointment Tuesday, saying the channel will play a critical role in the expansion of its solution.
The Details: The San Diego, California-based company’s offering comes as the amount of data continues to proliferate in a growing number of areas, from enterprise data centers and the cloud to Internet of Things (IoT) devices and edge environments. The focus of organizations has grown from protecting the perimeter to securing the data, and delivering solutions to address this change requires a robust partner ecosystem, according to Ubiq officials.
Pataky’s experience includes positions with Dell Security and SonicWall, as well as more than two years as vice president of worldwide channels and alliances at cybersecurity firm FireEye. He also has been a channel executive for Juniper Networks, Vertical Networks, and 3Com.
Background: Ubiq, once known by the name Fhoosh Inc., launched its new name in June. It has since made its SDK available on the Amazon Web Services Marketplace, created a regional headquarters in Tokyo, and appointed a chief revenue officer and sales head.
The Buzz: “I’m equally excited about the Ubiq data-first security value proposition as I am by the fact that we’re building a channel-first go-to-market model from day one,” Pataky said. “Ubiq was built with partnering at the forefront. It’s clear how Ubiq’s 100% software platform is primed to help customers drive real business outcomes and in doing so, allows our partners to show their value-add. This is a massive opportunity for partners to monetize their security practices incrementally, by truly securing the data, not just by adding another layer to the perimeter. Our solution will be relevant for security solution partners, MSSPs, and IoT solution providers alike. Our goal with the program is to strip away the administrative burden of having partners onboard a new solution into their security practice and instead focus on solutions that will enable them have a data-first security and business outcomes discussion with their customers.”
“Ubiq’s mission is to enable our customers to secure any type of data, on any device, anywhere — fast, transparent, and without impact to performance and user experience,” said Ubiq CEO Wias Issa. “This is a critical mission that requires a fundamentally different approach to security, and one that must leverage a rich partner ecosystem for delivery. Partnering DNA runs deep at Ubiq. The team has decades of collective experience in building security channels, supporting partners, and working to drive mutually successful outcomes. I was fortunate enough to work with Steve at FireEye and SonicWall and witnessed his commitment and integrity-driven approach to partnering firsthand.”
