Funded Head Count Not Important to Partners

Vendors paying for people to work at partner organizations helps fuel growth, but partners don't see it as a significant value proposition.

Funded head count, a benefit provided by vendors to their partners, is a long-standing channel program offering that's met with a mixed reception. Partners often seek this support — valued for defraying costs and augmenting capacity — to increase their sales and expand their business with a vendor.

Yet vendors implement strict controls on eligibility and awards. Not every partner qualifies for funded positions, and those that do often face numerous requirements and restrictions. This selective approach ensures that vendors maintain high oversight and alignment with their strategic goals while managing this valuable resource.

Vendors regard funded head count as a valued partner benefit, but partners view it differently. In the Channelnomics 2025 Channel Forecast survey, when partners were asked what they consider the most valued attributes of vendor channel programs, funded head count not only ranked last but was also cited by more partners as having no importance in their success.
