The 2112 Group on the Edge of Innovation: CEO to Present at 2nd Fog World Congress
Lawrence M. Walsh leads panel to discuss potential of intersecting cloud, edge, fog, and IoT technologies
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., Oct. 1, 2018 – The 2112 Group, a business strategy and research firm, announced today that CEO and Chief Analyst Lawrence M. Walsh will moderate the Edge-Fog panel on Oct. 3 at Fog World Congress 2018 in San Francisco.
Walsh, one of the most recognizable and forward-thinking technology prognosticators, will lead a discussion with three edge and fog computing experts: Rhonda Dirvin, senior director of embedded, IOT and automotive marketing at Arm; Liam Quinn, CTO, senior vice president, and senior fellow at Dell; and Matt Vasey, director of IoT business development at Microsoft.
The Edge-Fog panel will explore a number of topics, including how manufacturing and industrial edge-computing applications will change the nature of work and the economy, the state of machine learning in edge computing, what measures can be taken to make edge and fog computing systems secure, how best to bring these technology solutions to market, and how to leverage these nascent technologies to generate actionable business intelligence.
“The number of Internet-connected devices is exploding, with tens of billions of edge computing machines coming online in the next five years. Edge and fog computing will change how we approach industrial, commercial, and personal systems that impact daily lives,” Walsh said. “How we get these multiplying and increasingly powerful solutions that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to market efficiently and cost-effectively is the next exciting step. This panel will help enlighten attendees on what’s needed in edge and fog computing so that the world can benefit from the technologies’ immense value.”
Scheduled for Oct. 1-3, Fog World Congress is the largest gathering of fog leaders and edge influencers in the world and is produced by the OpenFog Consortium in collaboration with the IEEE Communications Society. Attendees include technologists, data scientists, application developers, educators, researchers, analysts, venture capitalists and investors, service providers, government agencies, and enterprises representing a wide variety of industries.
The event provides a platform to showcase fog computing use cases, architecture, standards, developments, and research. Topics include intelligence on the edge, machine learning, infrastructure-as-a-service, smart grids, intelligent IoT services, 5G, security, the OpenFog reference architecture, AI, smart cities, network/messaging, software infrastructure, mobile edge computing, and more. On day three, Fog World Congress will culminate with Fog Tank, which showcases leading innovators in fog technologies and applications as they take center stage with investors and VCs.
