Microsoft Faces EU Antitrust Charges Over Teams Bundles

The antitrust complaint alleges that Microsoft has an unfair advantage in the way it sets up and sells its Teams collaboration system; changes could benefit the channel ecosystem and customers.

Here we go again. Microsoft is facing antitrust issues in the European Union. Regulators charge that the software and cloud computing giant has an unfair distribution advantage — in other words, sales — in the way it bundles Teams with other Microsoft applications.

The complaint charges that Microsoft is leveraging its leading productivity application market share to force customers to adopt Teams over other videoconferencing systems. Additionally, regulators say Microsoft is making it difficult for other collaboration providers such as Zoom and Slack (owned by Salesforce) to integrate with Microsoft 365.
